Dr Peter Solin is a leading authority on Sleep Disorders and Respiratory Medicine in Australia.  Graduating from Melbourne University in 1987, he undertook specialist training at both the Royal Melbourne and Alfred Hospitals, as well as in the UK, gaining his Fellowship from the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 1996.  His PhD determined the cause of abnormal nocturnal breathing in heart failure patients.  As a master clinician, he treats all types of sleep disorders, from adolescents to the aged, supervising 4 sleep laboratories and in the last decade developed sleep diagnostic services in regional centres.  He is the inventor of the Pharmacy Model for home sleep diagnostics, which defined accessible and timely patient-centric healthcare for the underprivileged in the Australian community.

Dr Dinesha De Silva

Dr Dinesha De Silva is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician who completed her MBBS at Monash University.  She gained her Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2005, following completion of her respiratory training at Monash Medical Centre and the Austin Hospital.  Following her training, she worked as a full-time respiratory and sleep physician in two tertiary hospitals in New Zealand.  She currently works as a respiratory, sleep and general physician at Southern Health.  Her interests are chronic obstructive lung disease, chronic disease management, sleep medicine and chronic respiratory failure.

Dr Chris Daley

Dr Chris Daley is a Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician with interests in respiratory infectious diseases, intensive care, acute and chronic respiratory failure, sleep disordered breathing and lung cancer diagnostics, including imaging modalities and bronchoscopy.  Following his MBBS at Monash University, he completed his FRACP in respiratory and sleep medicine through training at Southern Health and Western Health and also with complementary training in intensive care at Southern Health, Cabrini and Epworth hospitals.

A/Prof Lata Jayaram
MBChB FRACP PhD

Respiratory & Sleep Disorders Physician

A/Prof Lata Jayaram is a Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician.  She completed her medical and specialist training in New Zealand.  She then undertook a clinical research fellowship at McMaster University, Canada, focusing on the measurement of airway inflammation and its clinical application.  Lata returned to Australia and completed her training in Sleep Medicine at the Adelaide Institute of Sleep Health and her PhD in asthma and airway inflammation.  She currently practices at Western Health, North West Academic Centre and with the Sleep and Respiratory Group.

Dr John Hunt
MBBS FRACP

Dr John Hunt is a well-respected Respiratory & Sleep Disorders Physician with more than 20 years’ experience in treating a wide range of respiratory and sleep conditions.  Dr Hunt obtained his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1979 from Monash University.  He then went on to become a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, completing his training in 1988.  He has also worked overseas, including the completion of further postgraduate studies at the Brompton Hospital, London.

As well as having clinical research interests in COPD and asthma, Dr Hunt is actively involved in teaching, taking part in educational meetings and symposia with Primary Care Physicians.  He is also a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand and the Australasian Sleep Association.  Dr Hunt has a special interest in asthma, COPD, lung cancer, sleep disorders, and bronchoscopy.

Dr Nader Fayazi

Dr Nader Fayazi is a General Medicine and Respiratory Medicine Specialist from Ballarat. Dr Fayazi studied Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine in Tehran, Iran. He moved to Australia with his family in 2018 after working for 16 years as a specialist physician in Bandar Abbas. He has held several positions at the Hormozgan University of Medical Sciences, including Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Manager of the Internal Medicine Department. Since 2018, Dr Fayazi has been working in different hospitals and clinics in Hamilton and Ballarat, and recently has joined the Sleep and Respiratory Group in Melbourne. In addition, he has worked as General Medicine Specialist at Hamilton Base Hospital and as a Respiratory Medicine Specialist VMO, at St John’s of God Hospital Ballarat and Sunshine Hospital in Melbourne.
Dr Fayazi is experienced in the management of complicated and critically ill patients. He is a passionate medical educator and is expert at pulmonary procedures, including bronchoscopy and pleural procedures.

Dr Michael Pallin MB BCh BAO FRACP

Dr Michael Pallin is a Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin in Ireland, he attained his specialist training through the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland which incorporated two years at Alfred Health and Austin Health following his immigration to Melbourne. He subsequently completed a clinical research fellowship in cystic fibrosis at The Alfred Hospital before taking up his current public appointment at Monash Medical Centre. His practice encompasses a wide range of respiratory and sleep disorders with principal interests in bronchiectasis, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, interstitial lung disease and sleep disordered breathing.

Dr David Bertovic
MBBS FRACP

Cardiologist

Following the completion of his undergraduate training at Monash University in 1999, David has worked at Geelong Hospital and The Alfred Hospital and completed his cardiology training at Monash Medical Centre.  As an undergraduate, David undertook a clinical research project examining the effects of strength training on blood pressure and other aspects of the human arterial system, leading to him being awarded the Honours Degree of Bachelor of Medical Science in 1996.  His professional interest in exercise and sports cardiology has also seen him recently work with the Carlton and North Melbourne football clubs and Melbourne Victory Football Club.

David has acted as a medical supervisor for a number of clinical research studies at The Baker Heart and Diabetes Institute, taught undergraduate students of the Monash University Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and written teaching modules for the Australasian College of Sport and Exercise Physicians.

In addition to his clinical consulting at Cabrini Brighton, David has appointments at The Alfred Hospital and Bairnsdale Regional Health Services, as well as providing a consulting service to a number of Aboriginal Health clinics throughout rural Victoria.
